If this is a Nubian name, it should perhaps be analysed as ⲟⲥ-, 'to take out, release' + -ⲁ (predicative) = 'the one who takes out, releases'.
It could also be a Blemmyan/Beja name, because in the Blemmyan texts SB X 10552–10553 we find the name ⲱⲥⲉ (cf. TM Nam 6363, but there the name is classified as a variant of the Egyptian name Osis).
