Meaning: If this indeed is a Blemmyan name, it should probably be analsed as ⲉⲓⲟⲩ- < ⲓⲟⲩ-, nominative sing. marker + ⲗⲉⲡⲁ, perhaps cognate with the Bedauye 'réba', 'mountain, hill' = 'the mountain'.
Othewise, it may be a Nubian name with the following etymology: ⲉⲓⳣ-, ⲉⲓⲟⲩ-, 'grain, wheat' / ⲉⲗ̄ⲗⲉ-, 'wheat' + ⲉⲡ-, 'take, receive, put?' + -ⲁ (predicative) = 'the one who takes grain of wheat'. This, however, seems less likely.
