Description
Lower part of a plaque with complete lower margin and the lower parts of both side margins preserved. The SMB inventory includes the following description: ‘Bruchstück einer koptischen Inschrift. Untere Hälfte mit 7 Zeilen von denen die oberen 3 ganz abgerieben sind’. The drawing made by Lepsius, the only illustration of the piece at our disposal, shows only the four last lines, however.

Junker (followed by SB Kopt. and other publications) read the first 3 signs of l. 1 ⲯⲓⲉ and proposed to interpret them as numeral designating a date according to the Era of Diocletian/Martyrs (AM 715 = AD 998/9); more probable, however, is to read ⲯⲓⲥ, that is Coptic numeral 'nine' (or 'nineteen' or 'twenty-nine')
